The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Fabric and Trims to join our creative team. As the Head of Fabric and Trims at Scotch & Soda, you will play a pivotal role in curating and sourcing the finest fabrics and trims that align with our brand's identity and design philosophy. This is a leadership position that requires exceptional technical knowledge, creativity, strategic vision, and a strong understanding of market trends to ensure our collections remain innovative and distinct.
The position of Head of Fabric and Trims is based at our headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Responsibilities:
- Fabric and Trim Sourcing: Identify and establish relationships with reliable fabric mills, suppliers, and manufacturers worldwide to procure high-quality fabrics, trims, and materials that meet Scotch & Soda's design standards and sustainability guidelines.
- Trend Analysis: Stay informed about emerging fashion trends, textile innovations, and technological advancements in the industry to incorporate relevant fabrics and trims into our collections.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of fabrics and trims to ensure they meet quality and durability standards, as well as compliance with ethical and sustainable practices.
- Cost Management: Collaborate with the production and design teams to optimize costs without compromising on the quality of materials, exploring cost-effective alternatives when necessary.
- Creative Collaboration: Work closely with the design team to interpret their creative vision into reality, suggesting appropriate fabric and trim options to enhance the aesthetic appeal of each collection.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels for fabrics and trims, ensuring timely reorders to meet production timelines while minimizing excess stock.
- Supplier Relationships: Nurture and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms to secure the best pricing, lead times, and exclusivity when possible.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Champion sustainable and eco-friendly practices in fabric and trim sourcing, promoting responsible manufacturing and environmentally friendly materials.
- Team Leadership: Manage and inspire a team of fabric and trim specialists, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Compliance and Regulations: Stay updated on relevant regulations and compliance standards related to fabric and trim sourcing, ensuring Scotch & Soda's adherence to industry norms and legal requirements.
Location:
You will be based at our headquarters in the vibrant city of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Our office boasts a modern and stylish atmosphere, reflecting our brand's identity.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textiles, Merchandising, or a related field. A master's degree would be a plus.
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in fabric and trim sourcing, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role within the fashion industry.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of textiles, fabric properties, construction techniques, and the manufacturing process. Familiarity with various trims and their application in apparel design.
- Creative Vision: A keen eye for fashion trends, colors, and textures, coupled with the ability to translate design concepts into material reality.
- Sustainability Advocate: A commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing, with a track record of implementing eco-friendly practices in the fashion supply chain.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills to build productive relationships with suppliers and achieve favorable terms.
- Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership capabilities, empowering teams and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to meet multiple deadlines and manage a diverse range of projects simultaneously.
