ESG Manager [Sweden]


 

Do you want to work with Environmental, Social and Governance assessments and monitoring within development finance focusing on some of the world’s most challenging and inspiring countries? We are looking for an ESG Manager to join our ESG Team for a permanent position in Stockholm.


Job description


As an ESG Manager you will be part of Swedfund’s ESG Team that is responsible for integrating ESG considerations into our investment process and developing our sustainability approach. You will conduct ESG analysis of new potential investments (ESG due diligence); monitor our current portfolio companies’ ESG performance through annual online survey, meetings and site visits; and assist our portfolio companies to develop their ESG management systems and value creation activities as a part of our investment teams. Also, you will have the opportunity to contribute to development of Swedfund’s sustainability framework, tools, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of professional experience in responsible investment and sustainability, such as ESG Manager, Sustainability Consultant or Sustainability Officer
  • Experience and knowledge from the financial sector (banks, financial institutions, or private equity funds
  • Understanding of Development Finance (such as from IFC, World Bank, AfDB, MFIs and DFIs) is a merit
  • Experience and knowledge in environmental and social risk frameworks and management and interest in studying a breadth of company-level ESG standards and frameworks, such as IFC Performance Standards, ILO conventions, and ability to apply them in a global context
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in a related field required (primarily sustainability studies and development studies, or financial or business studies)
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Additional language skills are an advantage
  • Experience from / interest in developing countries such as Sub-Sahara Africa.

Teamwork is key, and you need to be able to function well both individually and in various groups. Travel to developing countries should be expected and forms a necessary part of the work.
